That's Walking in the Truth!
"And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:20-21) You obviously understand the nature of Christ's coming as revealed in scripture. Now you are faced with the problem of dealing with the timing issue. You've already affirmed that there is biblical support for believing that event was to happen in the first century. Now, you have to wrestle with the issue as many have before you. We didn't come to this conclusion overnight, and we don't expect any diligent student would. What we do hope is that you will continue to be diligent! Now that you've allowed your thinking to be challenged, we urge you to follow through and begin seriously studying this issue. Understanding eschatology is not an end, but a means to an end: kingdom living. We long for the day when we can focus entirely on how God's faithfulness to His promises calls us to kingdom living even as we dwell on His footstool. Thank you for taking the time to challenge your thinking. We welcome your comments and questions and invite you to join us at the Eschatology 101 home page to continue the journey with us. © Copyright 2003 ~ Jim Wade |
